Get Your Solar System Back on Track

A solar system is designed to provide reliable energy for years, but equipment failures, wiring problems, storm damage, and other issues can affect its performance. You need solar repair assistance. If your system has stopped producing, generated an error message, or simply isn’t delivering the energy you expected, Solar Panther can help. Our local Central Illinois team can inspect your system, diagnose the problem, and explain the appropriate solar repair options. We service the systems we install and can also evaluate systems installed by other solar companies — including companies that have closed, left the area, or stopped responding.

Solar Repair

Is Your Solar System Trying to Tell You Something?

Not every solar problem is immediately visible. In many cases, the first warning appears in your monitoring app, electricity bill, or monthly production report.

Contact Solar Panther if you notice:

  • A sudden or unexplained drop in solar production
  • An inverter, microinverter, or monitoring error
  • Panels that are no longer producing
  • A monitoring platform that has stopped reporting
  • Unexpected increases in your electric bills
  • Visible damage following a storm
  • Loose, shifted, or damaged solar equipment
  • Water intrusion near a roof penetration
  • A system that has shut down completely
  • Difficulty receiving help from the original installer

A drop in production doesn’t always mean the panels themselves have failed. The problem may involve the inverter, wiring, connections, monitoring equipment, or another part of the system. A professional evaluation can help identify the actual cause before repairs are recommended.

Wiring and Connection Repairs

Loose, damaged, or deteriorated electrical connections can affect system performance and safety. Our team can identify and address qualifying wiring and connection problems.

Monitoring Troubleshooting

If your monitoring platform has stopped reporting — or your production numbers appear unusual — we can help determine whether the issue involves communication equipment, connectivity, or system performance.

Panel and Mounting-System Repairs

We can evaluate damaged panels, mounting hardware, and related equipment to determine what can be repaired and what may need to be replaced.

Storm and Hail Damage Assessments

Severe weather can affect panels, wiring, mounts, and the roof beneath the system. Solar Panther can inspect qualifying damage and explain the available next steps.

Removal and Reinstallation for Roof Work

When a roof beneath an existing solar array needs to be repaired or replaced, the panels may need to be carefully removed and reinstalled as part of the project.

Warranty Assistance

If failed equipment may be covered by a manufacturer warranty, we can help identify the affected component and determine what information may be needed to pursue a claim.

Solar service availability will depend on the system’s equipment, condition, configuration, and manufacturer support.

Did Your Solar Installer Disappear?

Across the solar industry, some homeowners have been left with systems they cannot properly monitor, maintain, or repair because the original installer:

  • Went out of business
  • Left the Central Illinois market
  • Stopped providing service
  • No longer supports the installed equipment
  • Has not responded to calls or warranty requests

If that has happened to you, you still have options.

Solar Panther can evaluate many systems installed by other companies. We’ll start by gathering information about the system, reviewing the issue and determining whether the equipment can be properly diagnosed and serviced.

We cannot promise that every system or manufacturer will be serviceable, but we will give you a clear assessment of what we find and what your next steps may be.

Solar Repair

One Local Team That Understands Both Systems

Your solar array and roof need to function together. When one system requires work, it can affect the other.

Because Solar Panther is backed by Roof Tiger, homeowners have access to solar and roofing expertise through one established local organization. That can be especially helpful when:

  • A roof leak develops near the solar array
  • Storm damage affects both the roof and panels
  • The roof needs to be repaired or replaced
  • Panels must be removed before roofing work
  • The solar equipment needs to be reinstalled afterward
  • You are unsure whether the issue originated with the roof or solar installation

Instead of trying to coordinate two unrelated contractors, you have a local team that understands how both systems should work together.

Pay Attention to System Performance

Solar systems require little routine maintenance, but that doesn’t mean they should be ignored. Reviewing your monitoring platform regularly can help you notice production changes before they become prolonged performance problems. It is also helpful to inspect the system after severe storms and contact a professional if you see visible damage or receive an equipment alert.

Solar Panther monitors the systems we install and remains available when questions or service needs arise. If another company installed your system, we may still be able to help establish a clearer picture of its current condition.

    Solar Repair FAQs

Can Solar Panther Repair a System You Didn’t Install?

Solar Panther can evaluate and service many systems installed by other companies, including systems whose original installer is no longer available. Whether we can complete the repair depends on the equipment, system design, condition, and availability of compatible parts or manufacturer support.

How Do I Know if My Solar System Is Working Properly?

Check your monitoring platform for current production, error messages or unexpected changes. An unexplained increase in your electric bill may also indicate reduced production. If something looks unusual, Solar Panther can help evaluate the system.

Why Has My Solar Production Decreased?

Solar production naturally changes with the season, weather and available sunlight. More significant or unexpected declines may be related to shading, debris, equipment failures, inverter problems, wiring issues or monitoring errors. An inspection can help determine whether the change is normal or requires service.

Does a Low-Producing Panel Need to Be Replaced?

Not necessarily. Reduced production can have several causes, and the panel itself may not be the problem. Solar Panther will diagnose the system before recommending repair or replacement.

Can You Help With an Inverter Error?

Yes. Inverter and microinverter errors are common reasons homeowners request solar service. We can evaluate qualifying equipment and determine whether it needs to be reset, repaired or replaced.

What Should I Do if My System Stops Producing?

Check your monitoring platform for an error message, but do not attempt to open electrical equipment or repair the system yourself. Contact Solar Panther with the error information and details about when the problem began.

Can You Remove Solar Panels for a Roof Replacement?

Yes, Solar Panther can evaluate removal and reinstallation needs when qualifying roof work must be completed beneath an existing solar array. Our connection to Roof Tiger allows the roofing and solar portions of the project to be coordinated through one local organization.

What if My Roof Is Leaking Beneath the Panels?

Contact Solar Panther so the roof and solar array can be evaluated together. The panels may need to be removed to identify and repair the source of the leak properly.

Is My Solar Repair Covered by a Warranty?

Coverage depends on the failed component, equipment manufacturer, installation warranty and terms of the original agreement. Solar Panther can help identify the issue and determine whether warranty coverage may apply, but coverage and claim approval are determined by the warranty provider.

How Much Does Solar Repair Cost?

Solar repair costs depend on the problem, equipment, accessibility of the array and availability of replacement parts. Solar Panther begins by gathering information and diagnosing the issue before recommending work.

Solar Panther exceeded my expectations. They were up front with pricing and time schedule. And they could tell me exactly who would be doing the actual work because everyone was local. Other solar companies couldn’t do that because they brought different contractors in from out of town and couldn’t give an accurate schedule for the work. The battery backup generator eliminates the need for a noisy gas generator!

Had my solar panels installed about 4 months ago and I am glad I did. Started my solar journey with another company but went with Solar Panther because they are local and honest. Installation and the entire process went very smoothly and they kept me well informed through it all. Had a micro-inverter go out today and they noticed it before i did and had a team out to do the warranty repair the same day! Very happy that I went with Solar Panther!

Solar Panther put the solar array on my house in conjunction with Roof Tiger (their sister company) who put on my new roof. The quality of their work is solid. We had a pile of issues with getting engineering approval for roof deck load because my house is 100+ years old -and- I foamed in the roof deck 8 years ago, so it was very difficult to get an engineering group to assess it. Ben was diligent, tenacious even, and got the approval take care of. Connecting to the house was a breeze, running conduit through the roof eaves down to tie-ins next to my meter. The panels are unobtrusive and lightweight, but fastened down well to channel frames. Balancing inverters are part of the roof hardware, so there's nothing special at all in my main panel. We just had to have room for large breaker. No batteries. No fuss. Cutoffs are external to the house, for Ameren personnel to use. My house is now part of the grid, which has been a goal of mine for over a decade. There's a lot of paperwork involved with solar, and Solar Panther took care of all of that. They have also kept in touch with me to make sure I was properly set up with Ameren to get my full 1-to-1 reimbursement for any surplus energy I deliver to the grid. (Yes, that means my meter runs backwards at times, which is pretty cool.) I talked with them a lot before we started this project: about panel longevity, rebates, reimbursement from Ameren, and also their involvement in the long term health and functioning of my solar array. I was concerned with how well this technology is going to age and how Solar Panther would support it. Solar Panther doesn't just show up, stick some panels on your roof, and walk away. They monitor and maintain your array. That's just part of their business. The best part of all this is that once the panels were connected, it has just worked. I don't expect to have to spend any amount of my time fussing with the system, and I certainly haven't had to do much in the last four months since our install went live, except watch my power bill go down. I recommend going solar. I recommend Solar Panther.

I researched 5 different providers and ultimately selected Solar Panther. They are a locally established company and use locally established suppliers. Communication was and still is great. The sales process was easy. No hard sell tactics. Just good people having open conversations. Would recommend them to anyone.
