Solar Guidance Built Around Your Bloomington Home

Solar is not simply a matter of deciding whether panels work in Central Illinois. The more important question is whether a particular system will work well for your property, energy use and financial goals. Solar Panther helps Bloomington homeowners answer that question with a property-specific solar analysis. We consider how much electricity the household uses, where panels could be installed, how shade moves across the property and whether the roof is ready to support a long-term solar investment.

If the numbers and property support the decision, our local team can design and install a rooftop or qualifying ground-mounted solar system. We also troubleshoot and repair many existing systems, including panels installed by companies that are no longer available to serve their Bloomington-area customers.

With Solar Panther, you receive straightforward guidance before installation and a Central Illinois team you can contact long after the system is activated.

One Local Resource for Everything Solar

Homeowners come to Solar Panther at different points in their solar journey. Some are comparing their first proposals. Others already have a system that is underperforming, needs to be removed for roof work or has been left without support.

Our team provides help at each stage.

Custom Solar Installation

Solar Panther designs rooftop and qualifying ground-mounted systems based on the electricity needs and physical conditions of the property. The number of panels, equipment selection and array placement should come from a careful analysis, not a one-size-fits-all package.

We also help coordinate the technical and administrative steps required to move an approved project from design through activation.

Solar Repair and Troubleshooting

A warning in the monitoring app, an unexpected utility bill or a decline in production may signal that part of the system needs attention. Solar Panther can evaluate many solar arrays, identify possible causes and explain the service options available.

Service for Systems Installed by Other Companies

You do not necessarily have to contact the original installer to have a solar problem evaluated. Solar Panther works on many systems installed by other contractors, including systems whose original provider has closed or left the area.

    Questions? Answered.

Is Bloomington Sunny Enough for Solar Panels?

Solar panels do not require constant summer-like sunshine to generate electricity. Whether a Bloomington property is a good candidate depends more on its year-round solar exposure, roof direction, shade and available installation space. Solar Panther evaluates those conditions before estimating production.

How Much Solar Does My Home Need?

System size is influenced by historical electricity use, future energy needs, available installation space and the homeowner’s goals. A larger system is not automatically a better system. It should be sized around realistic consumption and production estimates.

How Much Does Solar Cost in Bloomington?

Cost varies according to system size, equipment, roof conditions, electrical requirements, installation complexity and payment method. A property-specific proposal provides more useful information than a broad statewide or national average.

Will Solar Panels Increase My Home’s Value?

Solar may be attractive to some future buyers, but its effect on a specific property can depend on system ownership, age, condition, local market conditions and the terms of any financing or lease. Homeowners should understand how the system will be owned before choosing a payment option.

Will I Still Have an Electric Bill?

Usually, yes. Most residential solar systems remain connected to the electrical grid. Homeowners may continue to pay fixed charges, taxes, fees and the cost of any electricity drawn from the utility beyond what the system produces.

Can I Add Solar if I Plan to Buy an Electric Vehicle?

Yes, but the vehicle’s anticipated charging needs should be discussed during the analysis. Adding an EV can increase household electricity consumption, which may influence the recommended system size.

Do Solar Panels Work During a Bloomington Winter?

Solar panels can generate electricity during winter when sunlight reaches them. Shorter days, cloud cover, shade and snow accumulation may reduce production. System estimates should consider expected output across the full year.

What Solar Incentives Are Available in Illinois?

Federal or Illinois incentives may be available to qualifying homeowners and projects. Program requirements, values, availability and timelines can change. Solar Panther can explain programs that may apply to the project, while homeowners should consult a qualified tax professional about their individual tax eligibility.

Does My Roof Need to Be New Before Installing Solar?

No. However, the roof should be in suitable condition and have enough remaining service life to support a long-term installation. If roof replacement will likely be needed soon, completing it before solar may avoid paying to remove and reinstall the panels later.

Can Solar Panther Repair a System It Did Not Install?

Solar Panther can evaluate many systems installed by other contractors. Available repairs depend on the system design, equipment, condition, manufacturer support and access to compatible components.

Can Solar Keep My Home Running During an Outage?

A standard grid-connected solar system generally shuts down during a power outage to protect utility workers and equipment. Backup power typically requires compatible battery storage and additional system components.

How Long Does a Bloomington Solar Project Take?

The physical panel installation is only one part of the timeline. Design, engineering, permits, utility applications, equipment availability, inspections and Permission to Operate can all affect the completion date. Solar Panther provides a more specific timeline after reviewing the proposed project.

Solar Panther exceeded my expectations. They were up front with pricing and time schedule. And they could tell me exactly who would be doing the actual work because everyone was local. Other solar companies couldn’t do that because they brought different contractors in from out of town and couldn’t give an accurate schedule for the work. The battery backup generator eliminates the need for a noisy gas generator!

Had my solar panels installed about 4 months ago and I am glad I did. Started my solar journey with another company but went with Solar Panther because they are local and honest. Installation and the entire process went very smoothly and they kept me well informed through it all. Had a micro-inverter go out today and they noticed it before i did and had a team out to do the warranty repair the same day! Very happy that I went with Solar Panther!

Solar Panther put the solar array on my house in conjunction with Roof Tiger (their sister company) who put on my new roof. The quality of their work is solid. We had a pile of issues with getting engineering approval for roof deck load because my house is 100+ years old -and- I foamed in the roof deck 8 years ago, so it was very difficult to get an engineering group to assess it. Ben was diligent, tenacious even, and got the approval take care of. Connecting to the house was a breeze, running conduit through the roof eaves down to tie-ins next to my meter. The panels are unobtrusive and lightweight, but fastened down well to channel frames. Balancing inverters are part of the roof hardware, so there's nothing special at all in my main panel. We just had to have room for large breaker. No batteries. No fuss. Cutoffs are external to the house, for Ameren personnel to use. My house is now part of the grid, which has been a goal of mine for over a decade. There's a lot of paperwork involved with solar, and Solar Panther took care of all of that. They have also kept in touch with me to make sure I was properly set up with Ameren to get my full 1-to-1 reimbursement for any surplus energy I deliver to the grid. (Yes, that means my meter runs backwards at times, which is pretty cool.) I talked with them a lot before we started this project: about panel longevity, rebates, reimbursement from Ameren, and also their involvement in the long term health and functioning of my solar array. I was concerned with how well this technology is going to age and how Solar Panther would support it. Solar Panther doesn't just show up, stick some panels on your roof, and walk away. They monitor and maintain your array. That's just part of their business. The best part of all this is that once the panels were connected, it has just worked. I don't expect to have to spend any amount of my time fussing with the system, and I certainly haven't had to do much in the last four months since our install went live, except watch my power bill go down. I recommend going solar. I recommend Solar Panther.

I researched 5 different providers and ultimately selected Solar Panther. They are a locally established company and use locally established suppliers. Communication was and still is great. The sales process was easy. No hard sell tactics. Just good people having open conversations. Would recommend them to anyone.
